Date: Mondays - 1/13, 1/27, 2/3, 2/10, 2/24, 3/3. 3/10, 3/17 (NO CLASS ON 1/20 OR 2/17)
Description: In this class students will experience different types of sewing, such as sewing clothing, home items, quilted items, or general crafting type things. Students will have the opportunity to create large items of their choosing such as: pajama bottoms, pajama shorts, a tote bag. Left over and scrap fabrics from projects will be used to make smaller items like a scrunchie, pencil bag, fabric basket, key fob holder, or oven mit.
Fall Projects:
1. Lunch Tote - 1/2 yard or 1 Fat quarter of cotton fabric for the outside of the lunch box and 1/2 yard or 1 Fat Quarter of Cotton fabric for the lining of the lunch box.
2. Drawstring Backpack - 1/2 yard of Cotton fabric for the outside of the backpack, 1/2 yard of cotton fabric for the lining of the backpack, and 4 yards of cotton cording or 1/2" webbing for the backpack drawstring.
3. Pencil Pouch - 1/4 yard of cotton fabric or 1 Fat quarter
4. Reusable Lunchwrap - 1/2 yard or 2 Fat Quarters of cotton fabric
5. Key Fob Wristlet - 1/4 yard fabric or 1 Fat Quarter of cotton fabric
How much each student will finish is individual to the student.
(Sewing kit is provided my instructor)
STUDENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR SUPPLYING THEIR OWN FABRIC.
Allowing participants to shop and choose their own fabric, not only empowers them, but also lets them take ownerhip of their creation from start to finish.
3 - 5 yards of woven medium weight cotton fabric is needed for the duration of the class.
