Grades: 3rd - 8th

Time: 3:30- 4:30

Location: Blue Oak Elementary School (1436 Polk St)

Date: Tuesdays - 4/16, 4/23, 4/30, 5/7, 5/14, 5/21, 5/28

Description: Learn everything you need to know with The Napa Valley Fencing Academy to enjoy this Olympic Sport.

Students will receive instruction in all three fencing weapons: Foil, Epee, and Saber.

Participants will gain an understanding of tactics and strategy based on USA Fencing guidelines.

We emphasize leadership development, good sportsmanship, and encourage students to help and uplift others.  All fencers will learn about having good manners in sports. This includes being respectful to others, strategies on questioning a call, and how to move forward and learn from their mistakes.
 
Participating in a competitive sport can come with a lot of different emotions. Students will learn etiquette about positive ways to express and manage their feelings, such as taking a moment, getting a drink, or asking for help.
 
Our rule in class is that students can feel any emotions that may arise, but they may not use their feelings to hurt others with actions or with words.
 

Students are asked to treat the equipment they use with care. All students help to clean up after class.

 

All gear is provided.

ALL STUDENTS MUST OBTAIN USA FENCING MEMBERSHIP. 

Blue Oak School will cover this membership cost of $25.00 per student.

This membership is good through 7/31/24 and allows students to participate in other fencing classes/events until 7/31/24.
